welcome note

welcome to "season five" of the fidfam adventure in its very own blog. a couple of notes. first of all the "ice cream motorcycles" title comes from the last post in adventurefidfam and is one of my favorite "owenisms" because it seems to capture everything wonderful about travelling with a four year old and my own giving in, if you will, into the unknown with absolute faith in beauty and love (i know, i know). but i can't escape the symbolic nature of the old blog's capacity ending on the eve of our return home-- after 9 countries and four overseas adventures we were at 99% capacity and couldn't post one more swedish strawberry. i thought about ditching the blog thing altogether, and being a "recent and reluctant" but admittedly ultimately enthusiastic facebook joiner i thought about just keeping my posts to a twitter and sharing albums and links (and wrestling michael to join the network of all worlds colliding into one news feed) until a more formal reason (fidfam korea perhaps?) emerged for a blog. but that sort of defeats the whole notion of adventure in the every day--which is really how the blog started... plus, blame it on my poetic mentor and her son's blog (who by the way i was babysitting when he was seven) who remind me of the joy of writing the every day and the need for a poetic community comprised of friends, neighbors, cousins and mother in laws. anyhow, here's to seeing the traffic as rainbow scoops on a giant waffle cone.
